The biennial Cleve Area School Festival was held on Friday, October 16, 2009, attracting almost 500 people.
“We think the festival went really well,” school principal Mick Braham said. “The food was excellent and there was a variety of stalls from students and parents
“The plant sale and uniform shop went very well and I think the highlight of the festival was the entertainment by Tori Masters and her dad Gavin.
This year’s festival focused largely on food stalls, with changes to education department health and safety requirements restricting some of the activities popular in previous years.
“A lot of the things we were allowed to do in the past have become victim to health and safety requirement and the cost of public liability insurance – like the hurdy gurdy and bouncing castle, or pony rides,” Mick said.
“There’s no doubt that those restrictions will have an impact on festivals into the future.”
