The number of apprentices and trainees undertaking training in South Australia remains strong despite the global financial crisis, according to the State Government.
SA Training Minister Michael O’Brien says new figures from the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NEVER) show there were 32,700 apprentices and trainees in training at the end of the March quarter this year.
The figure represents a three per cent rise on the previous quarter’s figures.
According to the NEVER research, more apprentices and trainees are completing their training, more South Australians are undertaking traditional trades and more women are taking on apprenticeships.
