Natural Resource Management levies have been set for almost all Eyre Peninsula councils with the Elliston District Council due to set its levy early next month.
Ratepayers in the Eyre Peninsula Natural Resources Management (EPNRM) region will put $1.746 million toward the running of the board and its operations with the biggest contributions coming from the City of Whyalla, $584,471, and the City of Port Lincoln, $423,413.
Ratepayer contributions were approved by Environment and Conservation Minister Paul Caica at the end of last month.
The Eyre Peninsula NRM is working toward a uniform levy across the region so all ratepayers contribute the same amount toward natural resource management regardless of where they live.
Local councils have been levying for a single cost for several years.
This year the levies range from $55 to $60 but a standardised levy is expected to be achieved in the 2011/12 financial year.
