The Women’s and Children’s Hospital Lock Auxiliary celebrated its 50th birthday last month.
A celebratory luncheon was held in the Lock Bowling Club attended by locals past and present with other auxiliary members attending from Cleve, Wudinna and Tumby Bay.
The Lock Area School junior singers kicked off the day followed by guest speaker Robyn Roswell from Port Lincoln who spoke about her travels with the McGuiness McDermott Foundation raising money for various charity’s including the Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Together with the foundation she has walked the Kokoda Track in 2007, the Sandakan Death March in 2008, and has just recently returned from walking The Great Wall of China.
Their next big challenge in 2010 is in Africa walking up Mount Kilimanjaro.
Service badges were presented for years of service to the following: 45years – Lois Burrows and Nancy Jacobs, 40years – Rhonda Stevens, 15 years – Grace Morrow, 10 years – Kerri Young, Nita Kay, Sylvia Dolphin and Angela Agars, and 5 years – Valda Glover and Cassandra Siebert
A total of 45 years of service was also recognised for Wudinna Liason member Mavis Sampson.
Raffle prizes were won by Nancy Jacobs, Kerri Young, Nadine Pearce, Alice Elliott and Jacqui Dolling.
The cake was made and decorated Nita Kay and Valda Glover and was cut by the Lock Auxiliaries patron Nancy Jacobs.
A wonderful afternoon was enjoyed by all.
